When we first moved in to our new home, EVERY room was a different color (I mean, even the basement stairs were painted a bright yellow and the walls were bright green…like come on!) and all of the bedrooms were almost like very bright nursery baby colors. They all had to go.
We had to figure out who was going to be sharing bedrooms and we basically just drew it from a hat. Our daughter and middle son would share a room and our oldest and youngest sons would share a room. (Our oldest has been basically begging to be able to share a room with him baby brother *insert heart melt*). Next was to talk to them and figure out how they wanted their rooms.
We came from a very small two-bedroom townhouse so the 3 older kids were used to shared a room and we basically left it a blank canvas so there was no fighting. Now with them having much more space and mostly their own spaces, they can be as creative as they can be (or as much as I will let them haha!)
So when talking to my oldest son I gave him some choices that I thought would be perfect for both his age (8) and his little brother’s age (1.5) and he chose the space theme (which was the one I was secretly hoping for!).
So the shopping began and I found some of the coolest stuff! First thing first was the paint! Now… I could literally paint day after day after day. I love it so much! So looking for paint is so much fun for me! My go to is always Behr paint at Home Depot. They have SO many options, a huge variety of colors and it goes on so nicely!
I knew I wanted a dark color but not too dark so I started looking at dark blues and finally landed on Starless Night and it was perfect! I mean, look at it! I ordered two gallons in Behr Ultra in Eggshell and it covered so well!
Look how awesome it looked! Next to find was the bedding and a couple decorations so I went to my main two sources… Amazon and Walmart!
I found the twin bedding that was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I wanted something simple and that could grow with him into whatever they want their rooms to be next. Our 8 year old always complained about his old bedding being way too hot and heavy so his new comforter had to be warm enough in the winter but cool enough in the summer and this was just right! It was exactly what it said, breathable but warm. He LOVES it. *mom win!*

Now his bed sheets, I debated on for a while. I knew I wanted white…but white on an 8 year old’s bed and a 1.5 year old bed just seemed crazy…but I went for it and I am so glad I did. I got them from Amazon (just like almost everything else) and they are so soft, the perfect color white and tides the room together! He moves around like crazy but every morning, it still looks smooth and straight! Literally, a mothers dream! Am I right??

Next was deciding what bedding and sheets to get for my little one. He is literally all boy. Crazy, wild, loves to be naked and pee on his bed… tell me I am not the only momma who has a little one like that!?
I wanted his to match his brothers, obviously, so onto searching for the perfect blue and white sheets. I tried searching for the same brands that I got for his brother, but they don’t make any for toddler sized mattresses.
This sheet set that I found I am IN LOVE with! We all know baby skin and we need something that will be as soft as that is and these were a perfect match! It comes with 3 pieces: a fitted sheet, top sheet and a standard pillow case which is perfect. Is it weird to have a favorite thing about sheets? Because with these, I DO! The top sheet is half fitted! The elastic trim at the bottom holds so snug and makes sure it stays exactly where it should be!
Okay, okay. I went on long enough about sheets. Lets talk about the so sweet amazing quilt I found for his comforter. It is breathable but warm and so cute! Changing his bed sheets and comforter has greatly improved his sleep, it is fantastic! He sleeps all night, he sleeps in (sometimes…he still is just 1!), he always loves being in his bed and getting books read to him. He absolutely loves his new bedding!

I was so happy when I got to the décor part of this room makeover! I already had an idea that I had in my head. I wanted planets and stars on the wall behind their bed, a poster above their bed, some cute shelving, a rug and their name on their right wall and I got my wish (half way anyway)!
Look how amazing those are! They include all of the planets, 136 different shaped stars, and all of the planet names. The planets look so incredibly real AND glow in the dark! It is such a steal! They were so easy to put on and are easy to remove (believe me, I know. I may have had to look at which planets go where haha!)
How awesome are those? I am seriously in love! I may have even asked my husband if it would be weird if we put them on our wall in our bedroom… his answer was a firm yes.
You can buy these amazing MAFOX Glow in the dark planets and stars by clicking here or the picture below! They would be great in a classroom too!
