Are you tired of feeling like your life is just one big chaotic mess? Let me help you! I love organization and I always have but I have not always been organized. It has been something that I practice every day and something that I commit to. With these 12 ways of keeping your life organized will change your life in so many great ways!
Organizing is very therapeutic for me! I love finding new ways to organize and help keep my life and my family’s life a little less chaotic.
I want to help you with these 12 amazing ways of keeping your life organized!
My husband always talks about how he never even thought about organizing or having things in a certain spot and how his life was just chaotic and a mess until I came along… *yes, a round of applause for me* …and now, he says that he can never go back and how much nicer it is to know where everything is (until I move it around of course) and having a spot for everything.
Not only does this list help your life and home stay organized, it helps your children stay organized and it is able to teach them to clean better without the hassle of just throwing things in random spots (or so you hope!).
Keeping your life organized with these 12 simple steps!
1. Clean out your purse
This seems so simple but how many times do you find random old papers, receipts, snacks for the kiddos, random coins in all of the pockets? Cleaning out your purse once a week or even once every two weeks can really help you feel a little less cluttered and a lot more calm.
Want to go the extra mile? Check out this amazing purse that offers so much space for all your little knickknacks you carry around. It comes in so many amazing colors, sizes and gets AMAZING reviews! You can use it as an insert for your purse or simply use it as your purse!
2. Make daily to-do lists
This is a must! Keep your daily activity organized by writing them all down, either the night before or the morning of. Keeping it on hand (maybe even in the purse organizer you just bought!) and checking off your to-do list as you go can help you stick to your list and accomplish so much more and keeping all those pesky tasks you have organized.
To help you stay organized and on top of your list, I created this FREE daily to-do list just for you!
Simply leave your name and email in the form below and it will be sent right over to you 🙂
3. Clean out your car
How many times have you grabbed the mail on your way out and it ends up just piled in your car until you finally decide to bring it in? Or how many times do you find wrappers from when the kids ate their cheese sticks on the way to practice… weeks ago?
Every week or every two weeks just go through your car, pull out all the garbage, bring inside any papers or items that you left in there and give it a nice vacuum.
You’ll be surprised at how much better your life feels when you sit in your nice clean car (and it really only takes 15 minutes!).
It’s a serious win-win when it comes to keeping your life organized!
4. Keep a goals list
Keeping a goals list (both small goals and big goals) can help keep your mind set and help you achieve your goals faster. When they are written down and in front of you, you are more likely to continue to reach for them.
Write down the steps you need to take to get to your goals. Write down what can help you, when you want to achieve them by, and every few steps you succeed give yourself a little treat (maybe a new pen to write with or a new phone case, whatever will keep you moving towards those goals). So grab a notebook and get writing!
Check out my When Life Hands You Lemons notebook below! It’s cute and gives you 200 pages of notebook space!
5. Meal Planning
This is a great way to keeping your life organized! It takes time and consistency but once you start meal planning each week, it really can help organize the week ahead. It helps make those crazy busy nights much less stressful.
6. Cleaning Schedule
A cleaning schedule is something I really love to have! Not only does it keep your home clean and organized each day but you don’t wake up and go throughout the day wondering where you should start or what to do because it is all written down and all planned out. Check out my daily cleaning list here!
7. Clean up your email
Every two weeks or so I go through my email and clean it up. I clean out all the junk, unsubscribe to email lists that no longer interest me, and organize my emails into folders. I get a lot of emails so it is nice to go through them every couple weeks and have everything organized and in it’s place.
8. Clean up your desk and work areas
This is a huge one for me! I hate clutter and hate a ton of random papers laying around. At the end of each day, I go through and get rid of any junk mail or papers that I no longer need, organize the papers that I need into different sections (bills, kids, work, etc) and place them where they need to be.
It is so nice to wake up to a desk that is organized and ready for the day to come!

9. Organize your spice drawer
Okay, this one might seem stupid but it is a game changer! We all have a good amount of spices that we have laying around – some small, some big, some plastic bottles, some glass jars, just a mix of everything and it can create chaos when trying to organize.
I bought these spice jar organizers and labels and they have been amazing! With them being all the same size, it is so much easier to store and find each spice I am looking for.
10. Have a drop off zone
One thing I hate is having things just thrown onto the counter. We have a designated spot for our car keys, masks, wallets, and sunglasses. They are always put away and ready to be grabbed when needed.
It is such a small thing but it makes a huge difference in keeping your life organized!
11. Have a place for shoes
With 6 people in the house, shoes get wildly out of control. Thrown wherever and somehow one shoe ends up in one room while the other is left in another room. It was getting out of hand! Have either a designated area for shoes or having a shoe rack can really help you feel organized and more relaxed.

12. Make your bed
Last but not least, make your damn bed! It is so easy and believe me, getting into a freshly made bed is incredibly relaxing and make sleeping so much better. My husband NEVER made the bed before we got together and now is the one who makes it sometimes because he truly feels like he sleep better and is much more relaxed at night.
It takes 5 minutes, so just do it!
Doing these 12 simple steps – you will be on your way to keeping your life organized. Feeling less stressed and a lot more zen. Getting organized does not need to be hard and once you start, it will be a lot harder to stop.
